The “Christian” Stance on Voting?
October 30, 2012 1 Comment
How do Christians in the United States view voting in presidential elections? Some are abstaining for a variety of reasons. Others have insisted that voting is the duty of every Christian citizen. Some have organized communal trips of “souls to the polls” to cast their votes. And others are attempting to overcome partisan divides through participation in the central Christian sacrament on the night of the election.
There are many who can’t understand how anyone could vote for a Democrat and others who can’t fathom the theological justification for voting for a Republican. Some will vote third party and others view such a decision as an abnegation of one’s civic responsibility to directly affect the outcome of the election.
Lord, have mercy on us all.
